Day 1 – September 11
For more than 20 years, Harvey Nichols monochrome, photographic food packaging was the last word in style. Youthful, exciting and completely different from anything that had gone before, when it launched in 1994, it became an immediate design icon and symbol of Cool Britannia, Ab Fab London in the early 90s.
23 years on and that icon had started to fade. As well as looking and feeling its age, it was increasingly difficult for Harvey Nichols to use effectively in-store. So in 2017, we were asked to bid it a fond farewell and entirely reimagine food for Harvey Nichols.
This presentation will explain the journey we went on with Harvey Nichols to get to the answer. Together we have created a powerful new design icon, that captures today’s zeitgeist, just like its predecessor did, and which, like the store itself, delights and appeals to a whole new generation of tastemakers and fashionistas.
Design is a powerful force of change. It not only shapes consumer experience and brand perception but can influence organizational culture, as well. Learn how Microsoft’s Packaging Design team is evolving, designing against new values and how their recent work, including Xbox’s Adaptive Controller package, is influencing positive brand, business and consumer impact.
As a multiple international awards winner, Design Bridges’ Chloé Templeman and Fortnum & Masons’ Zia Zareem-Slade discuss how to nourish designer-client relationships to produce award-winning work time and time again.
Day 2 – September 12
A brand is more than just a logo stamped on a pack, a commercial mark as proof of quality, but rather a brand is made up all multiple elements that together hold deeper significance. In order to build distinctive brand experiences, it’s imperative that you understand the brand’s distinctive codes.
A conversation between designer and brand owner.
Giuseppe and Ivan will talk about building the iconic ITALICUS Rosolio di Bergamotto brand from scratch. This is a chance to get a 'peek behind the curtain’ of the process involved in designing powerful packaging and hear how the project grew from idea to reality. How the relationship and understanding between a brand owner and a designer is pivotal for the success of a new to market brand. They will discuss the trust in their relationship to deliver the best and how the final powerful pack design opened doors for the brand.
