Since our launch in 2007, Pentawards has evolved into a truly global competition for packaging design. Each year, the standard has grown in both quality and quantity, making the race for the top prize more thrilling than ever. This year, we were delighted to receive over 2,000 entries from more than 65 countries.
Our esteemed International Jury carefully reviewed every submission to select the most outstanding designs. But only one will claim the ultimate accolade: the ‘Diamond – Best of Show’ Award. Who will take home this year’s prize? While we wait to find out on 4 October, let’s look back at the past five winners of the Diamond – Best of Show.
Last year's Diamond winner (2024)
OGT by This Way Up (United Kingdom)
One Good Thing (OGT) snack bars use innovative, eco-friendly packaging. The primary packaging consists of an edible beeswax-based coating that protects the bar while being completely edible, alongside a rice paper label printed with 100% natural, food-safe ink. For secondary packaging, corrugated cardboard is used in a postage format, made from 70% recycled materials. It's fully recyclable and compostable, aligning with the brand’s commitment to sustainability by eliminating waste and reducing environmental impact.
2023
CASA MARRAZZO 1934 by Auge Design (Italy)
Casa Marrazzo, an Italian sauce producer, tasked Auge Design with creating a unique line of premium products in a custom jar. Drawing from the brand's heritage, the visual identity developed was the "Collezione Casa Marrazzo 1934," featuring a sophisticated design with oversized, screen-printed objects on clear glass. Custom caps and a distinctive palette distinguish each product, while gold-printed labels and a screen-printed illustration enhance the shelf appeal, creating an authentic and premium packaging design.
2022
Pocket Neck Pillow by Urban Forest Lifestyle Limited (China)
Shenzhen Urban Forest designed a travel neck pillow that's both stylish and eco-friendly. The outer silicon packaging also acts as an air pump, making it compact and portable. The tree-shaped shell functions as a storage bag and an air pump due to the silicon's elasticity. This innovation encourages users to reuse the packaging, transforming how inflatable pillows are used.
2021
Eminente Reserva by Moët Hennessy (France)
This pack is inspired by Cuba's "Isla del Cocodrilo," which has a unique crocodile-shaped logo and a textured glass bottle. The bottle is eco-friendly, as it can be repurposed as a candle holder, vase, or water jug. The labels are made from recycled materials, with the front label displaying the brand logo and product description using special techniques. The back label looks like a train ticket, making each bottle unique with individual numbers.
2020
Air Vodka by Air Company (United States)
The design stands out by combining sustainability and luxury. Air Company aims to be the world's most sustainable alcohol brand, achieving the first carbon-negative vodka brand. They collaborated to create a reusable and 100% recyclable bottle with a sleek, modern design. Minimal labelling is applied with a natural, non-toxic adhesive for easy removal, encouraging bottle reuse. Carbon offset printing and eco-friendly messaging complete the eco-conscious approach.
