Darkness. It’s not the absence of light, but the place where Tasmania’s most vivid moments begin. It’s where the creative pulse quickens, where wild beauty glows its brightest, and where a whisky like Dark Lark takes form.

This year’s highly anticipated release draws its energy from the shores of Tasmania’s Bay of Fires, where fiery lichen clings to ancient rocks and flares to life at sunset. As the last of the daylight hits the coast, the lichen appears to ignite — vibrantly electrified by the turning of the day. This natural magic became the heartbeat of the 2025 creative: a whisky made for nightfall, wrapped in light.

Designed by Clay Andrews and crafted at Lark’s Bothwell Distillery, Dark Lark 2025 brings together place and atmosphere. Both the bottle and gift box are layered with copper and orange foils that flow around each surface in a full 360-degree application. The effect is immersive — like lichen creeping across stone and catching the light as it moves. Subtle glow-in-the-dark ink adds a quiet detail, revealing itself only once the lights go out, a nod to those who linger longer after dark.

The gift box is printed on a heavily textured stock that feels rugged and raw, drawing a clear line back to the wild landscape that inspired it. This pack invites interaction. You don’t just see it — you feel it. It asks for touch, pause, presence.

The whisky itself captures the excellence of its environment. Crafted with care and shaped by place, this release is rooted in its surroundings — made to honour the character, creativity, and wild electric energy of Tasmania.
