De Kromhouthal Unpacked: Find out more about October's Gala location

events

You’ve accomplished a major win, and it’s almost time to raise that trophy and celebrate with your team at De Kromhouthal in Amsterdam. So let’s get to know a little bit more this iconic venue where you’ll be making history!

A city renowned for its creativity and innovation- especially as it celebrates its 750th anniversary this year - Amsterdam was the obvious choice for this year’s Gala. Its central European location makes it easily accessible by plane, ferry, or train, adding to its appeal.

While it’s hard to top the stunning views and vibrant energy of Magazine London, we believe this year’s venue is set to make history. Nestled in one of Amsterdam’s most dynamic districts, De Kromhouthal offers a cool, laid-back, industrial atmosphere, it's a true blank canvas. It’s the perfect space for us to get creative and infuse the Gala Ceremony with our signature Pentawards design flair.

Location

Located in Amsterdam Noord, right on the scenic IJ river, the Kromhouthal offers a vibrant atmosphere that’s hard to match- all just a short trip from the city centre. This area is an upcoming creative hub for Amsterdam, known for its vibrant urban feel and historical industrial roots– of which the Kromhouthal is a big part of. This once busy industrial strip has now grown into the bustling event strip it is today with plenty to see and do nearby - there's a buzzing food and drink scene, some interesting architecture such as the Eye Filmmuseum, quaint villages and for the thrill seekers, there’s A’DAM Lookout - home to Europe’s highest swing, an observation deck.

History

The Kromhouthal owes its name to the rich history of the hall and the surrounding area. This space used to be the home base of the Kromhout, producer of large ship engines and was created in 1925 due to the need for expansion.

This rich history is not only preserved in the name, but also remains visible and palpable throughout the venue, from the steel beams and operational cranes to the expansive 5,000m² space, earning it the nickname 'The Steel Cathedral.'"

Sustainability

Sustainability and ESG is important to us with all of our events and is something we take into consideration when choosing our Gala venues. Not only does this venue repurpose a historic old building, they focus on sourcing suppliers locally, minimising transport with easy public transport links and supply a predominantly vegetarian menu.

Events

The Kromhouthal comes highly recommended by our community, holding brilliant and creative events from Heineken, Google and Samsung, to name just a few. In its impressive 5,000m² space, it’s hosted a wide range of events from trade fairs and conferences to presentations and galas.

Accessibility

Getting there is super easy, situated on the IJ river, it’s even accessible by a free ferry, as well as metro and taxi, just a short journey from Central Station.
