The striking design concept sets out to communicate the brand’s core belief of balance and ecological values.

MaRa World Chocolate is a concept brand offering hand-made ‘eco-sweets’ on a mission to offer harmless pleasure while inspiring consumers to make more conscious and joyful life choices. Using ecological processes, the sweets are designed to promote a level of indulgence that doesn’t come at the cost of the earth. This ideological ethos is at the root of all stages of the brand development, packaging design and visual identity.

The project was developed by designer Khrystyna Davydenko as part of her diploma project, who also works as part of creative team DAVYD, run by three Davydenko sisters. The design embodies the brand’s aim for balance and ethical principles. The name MaRa is derived from astrological terms for two opposing personalities. Ma (Mars) refers to a person who is driven, motivated, courageous, and centred, whereas Ra (Rahu) reflects someone who lives on instincts with a thirst for pleasure. By joining them, Davydenko is creating a sense of synergy.

The visual identity takes on a minimal yet striking appearance. The entire packaging is made from paper which consists of 50% recycled materials, maintaining the brand’s environmentally friendly values. The black ink emphasises the strength of the brand, while cut out shapes create an added visual element casting shadows once opened.

“The visual concept consists of three: freedom of nature, the strength of personality, and conscious choice. Which take form as contrast and defined shapes, bright colours, and craft eco materials, natural light, and fluent lines.” - Khrystyna Davydenko

The visual solutions set out to expand the brand’s audience, make the visual presentation appropriate to its high-quality products, and communicate brand values.
