Noelle Roth and Kinley Winnaman crafts a unique sustainable cylindrical wine packaging for Juliet
Allison Luvera and Lauren De Niro Pipher launched Juliet, a boxed wine brand with an aim to provide eco-friendly wines delivering quality and design. Juliet focuses its design elements by placing sustainability at the heart of the brand, making it recyclable, fresh for up to six weeks after opening, and containing low-intervention, high-quality wine from Central Coast California vineyards that are certified sustainable.
Noelle Roth and Kinley Winnaman, two female independent designers, worked on the packaging design that bridges the gap between boxes and wine bottles. These designers shifted their focus to delivering wines in sustainable packaging away from glass bottles. Challenged with delivering the elegance and sophistication around the concept of drinking wine, the designer knew they had to create packaging that was premium, luxurious and uncompromising in quality.
Together, they crafted a timeless design that portrayed elegance, modernity and a visual identity that received subtle nodes from their Italian backgrounds. A balanced packaging design and identity that is sustainable and modern while maintaining the core elements of wine drinking. Each design is embellished with gold foil, contemporary, watercolour-inspired visuals, and delectably brilliant colours inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle, resulting in a pleasing and elegant appearance. The cylindrical-shaped outer box separates Juliet from other rectangular-shaped boxed wines adding a flair to the packaging.
Juliet's packaging evokes a Mykonos holiday, with its tranquillity, timelessness, and desire to appreciate every fleeting moment. The cylindrical shape of the packaging not only identifies Juliet as a detail-oriented brand but also builds a brand that emanates elegance, sustainability, and confidence, something that the boxed wine market isn't often acknowledged for.
