Juice3D’s packaging design for locally brewed Hallertau beer focuses on packaging life extension. A popular material among the sustainability movement is the infinitely recyclable aluminium, however with an aim to stand out within the competitive craft beer market, Juice3D specifically designed a bottle to be kept and reused rather than recycled.
Paying homage to the brand’s link to Bavaria, Juice3D implemented German design principles in their approach to The Keeper’s bottle design. The geometric profile reflects the beer's bold flavour while a deliberately neutral colour palette allows the bottle to be reused however the consumer wishes and sealed by a swing-top closure incorporated into the bottle neck. Careful consideration was given to this large bottle to be ergonomic, fit on supermarket shelves and minimize disruption to the brewery bottling line.
Large 360-degree shoulder embossing of the brand name allows the packaging to be identified without the need for a label. Embossing around the base reads ‘please refill when empty’, echoing Juice3D’s design goal to encourage customers to refill with more Hallertau beer or anything else they fancy, further promoted by the label tagline – “Drink, Keep, Re-Use, Repeat!”
Accompanying the glass bottle is a custom 400 ml glassware. Specifically engineered with a tapered structure to enhance beer aroma and provide a better drinking experience, the glass also features the large 360-degree embossing at the neck. Bottle and glass are encased within a custom gift pack, made with a strengthened outer carton to sustain the weight of the 1.7 kilo bottle (when filled), and finished with a matching tapered form. The box also possesses removable modules that can hold current and future ‘gifting’ configurations.
