Created with nature and community in mind, Scottish brand Unwrapped have developed a refillable energy bar wrapped in 100% reusable packaging.

Unwrapped are on a mission to end single-use packaging and create a circular economy with their new refillable, entirely natural energy bars. Taking inspiration from refillable glass milk bottles, the Edinburgh-based brand developed wrapping materials and packaging that can be kept and reused for as long as possible or be sent back ready for a refill.

Made from organic cotton, the wrapping is coated with beeswax from a locally-sourced company Queen Bee wraps that supplies the wax from their bees. The wrapping can be cleaned at home with a simple rinse under warm water or even put into the oven on a baking sheet on low heat to allow the wax to melt. Beeswax is also naturally anti-bacterial.

The drive for a true circular economy means veering away from the 'disposable' mindset, even if the wrapping is compostable or recyclable which can still require a lot of energy and resources and moving towards more sustainable habits in which nothing is wasted.
