Back Established revolutionary packaging for FaceGym’s skin care range

Established reveals new Aluminium packaging aimed at tackling the beauty industries reliance on single use plastic whilst also delivering high end packaging that’s suitable for sensitive formulas.

FaceGym is the revolutionary beauty brand that champions non-invasive face lifts through facial workouts. Just as you would stretch and tone muscles in the rest of your body, FaceGym uses a range of lifting and sculpting workouts amplified with ‘high performance’ skincare products to lift and train your facial muscles.

Conceptualized by Inge Theron who spent five years writing her column ‘chronicles of a spa junkie’ for the Financial Times. After a face-lifting procedure left her house-bound Inge channelled all this experience and research into a unique concept of her own: FaceGym, a non-invasive workout for the face.

With a conscientious and revolutionary ethos at the heart, FaceGym approached New York based design agency Established to design the packaging for their line of skin care products with a single brief - to make them as environmentally responsible as possible.

Mindful of the ongoing struggle within the beauty industry to find truly environmentally responsible solutions that doesn’t rely on single-use plastic, Established went outside the normal beauty industry supply chain to develop a totally new concept.

“We wanted to challenge this norm and find a breakout new approach by creating a beautiful product that would meet the consumers' expectation of luxury while also being infinitely recyclable.”

Through this process Established discovered that Aluminium proved the perfect material. The boutique agency sought out an innovative Italian metalwork manufacturer and produced an Aluminium jar that stands up visually in the extremely competitive luxury market but can also be recycled infinitely with zero loss. The pack is complete with a refill system of 100% recycled ocean plastic and each jar is individually numbered to encourage the consumer to keep it as a precious object, rather than a disposable plastic one-time use item.

“This is to our knowledge the world's first commercially produced skincare jar made of solid aluminum.”
