Morae doesn’t just manufacture components, they develop innovative ideas and collaborate with brands to make their visions for innovative packaging come to life. One such client is The Rootist, a new haircare brand that focuses on hair’s roots. Its mission is to provide sustainable hair care solutions - not only with Earth-friendly formulations but packaging as well. The Rootist asked Morae to develop packaging that exemplified its commitment to sustainability and related to the concept of “roots.” Therefore, Morae partnered with Ecovative, the leaders in mushroom-grown packaging, to customize and develop a tray made entirely from mycelium – literally the root of mushrooms.

The result is packaging that is both biodegradable and compostable at home. The Morae Team and Ecovative strategically planned every detail and manufactured the mycelium to meet the Rootist’s needs. Rigorous compatibility and other testing were also performed to ensure the packaging could withstand different environmental stressors and other factors.

The result is an innovative, sustainable beauty packaging solution that’s the first of its kind to be released on a large scale.
