Turning to local mythology, Onice Design Agency delivers a refreshing bottle and label design for Luz Gin.

Marzadro Distillery, based in the province of Trento, Italy, is renowned for its product quality, family values, use of raw ingredients and experimentation that over time have led to reinterpretations of the classic spirits and Grappa. One example being their Luz Gin, with its careful botany and prudent composition of local products, the spirit was skilfully developed in collaboration with the bartender of Riva del Garda, Leonardo Veronesi.

In order to capture the distinct qualities and key factors that made Luz Gin, Onice Design Agency turned to local Roman mythology.

"From the traces of the Lombards, the Romans made their own the story of Neptune, god of the sea, and of one of his sons, the god Benacus. Benacus protects Lake Garda, the original vegetation and all the creatures that inhabit it, including the precious Pike."

Lake Garda, being local to the distillery and the location from which the Gin was developed, becomes the key design inspiration. A clean, refreshing colour palette of turquoise blue reflects the natural colour of the lake, and textured glass creates the illusion of the water surface. Hot foil labelling depicts the face of Benacus and the Pike, translated as Luccio or “luz” in the local dialect and the Gin’s namesake, bringing the myth to the forefront of the design.

The use of foil labelling, blind debossing and micro-engraving enhances the texture composition and delivers a premium finish. Recognizing the unique material composition used to make the Gin, a finely illustrated ingredient list is depicted on the back of the white paper label, printed in tonally matching deep blue ink.
