Design studio CreativeByDefinition puts Kondea’s Greek roots centre stage in their extra virgin olive oil packaging.

Kondea is an organic Greek farm offering cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil from 100% Amphissa olives, collected by hand and processed within a few hours. Due to the extremely low acidity, relatively early harvest, organic cultivation and post-harvest treatment, the oil is renowned for its high quality.

With the oil’s unique taste and premium quality intrinsically linked to the land from which the olive tree grows, CreativeByDefinition’s focus was to bring the brand's heritage and connection to the Greek land to the forefront of the visual identity. The resulting design is structured around two elements.

The first is a Greek poem created especially for this extra virgin olive oil packaging by Antonis Karakonstantakis. Its words speak of Gods, memories and the olive nectar evoking themes of Greek mythology and history.

The second is a minimalistic portrait of the olive tree base emerging from the rolling lands of the olive oil farm. Its organic winding features, illustrated in rough black lines set against a bright white canvas, take centre stage of the label design, paying homage to the Greek lands from which the olive is grown.

The design's simplicity creates a sense of ambiguity and intrigue, inviting the consumer to step into the world of small-batch Greek organic olive oil, as well as capturing the strong historic connection between the Greek people and the land from the early beginnings.
