UPM Raflatac launches Reverie 3 - a new collection of recycled papers for wine, spirits and beverage labels
UPM Raflatac, a global supplier of label materials with sustainability at the core of their business, launches Rêverie 3, a collection of premium and sustainable beverage label materials. Crafted in collaboration with top Spanish designers, the new collection fuses sustainability with striking designs, delivering spectacular outcomes.
Rêverie 3 gives packaging design experts the opportunity to create a balance in sustainability with premium sustainable materiality derived from well-managed, FSC® certified forests and other regulated sources, many of which contain post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.
With the increase in the inclusion of FSC and PCR packaging as a necessity, UPM Raflatac showcases the potential of today’s sustainable label materials. The outcome is five labels with five exceptional designs that bring elegance, sustainability, and stimulation experiences in high-quality labels alive - every packaging design expert's dream!
The five labels of the Rêverie Collection 3
Five Spanish design agencies were tasked to give their interpretation of sustainability and create a ‘new, revolutionary collection’ for labels of high-end wine, spirits, sparkling cider, craft beer and juice labelling applications.
BIARRITZ WSA PCR-FSC x Estudio Series Nemo
Crafted for high-quality wine and spirits labels, this label’s natural white shade with visible fibres and elegant felt-marked surface accentuates its premium appearance.
"We've tried to explain the recycling concept in the label because the Rêverie 3 collection is linked to sustainability. We went all in with a single ink and an extremely complex relief because the paper allowed it. I think the paper has a fine pleasant touch, when you touch it you can feel its warmth." , said Carles Anadón from Estudio Series Nemo
DROPS WSA PCR-FSC x Estudio Maba
Developed for high-quality wine and spirits labels, the paper has an intensified uneven, textured surface with a transparent look and heightened tactility due to the unique paper-making technique.
"Our goal was to make a small representation of nature. We saw how it interacted with light, how it went through it, the drawings, and the textures that it had. We were impressed because it's such a special paper.", said Miguel Angel del Baño from Estudio MABA
FENIX WSA PCR-FSC x Estudio Puigdemont Roca
Created to display refined quality, the ivory shade with visible fibres gives the paper a delicate hint of recycled content.
"To make our label we were thinking about a high-quality recycled paper. We decided to reuse an existing well-known label - the Campbell's label, taking it out from the original bottle and applying it to our design. The Rêverie 3 collection is a very wide one, so it can give solutions to different kinds of projects, starting with fun projects and continuing with fuck or premium ones, or even crazier things that we have in mind.", said Albert Puigdemont from Estudio Puigdemont Roca
HIPSTER WSA PCR-FSC x Estudio Calcco
A white that displays warmth and elegance with a delicate feel of an uneven texture delivers a unique quality for quality wines and spirits labelling.
"The hipster paper's collection was love at first sight. What we liked the most from the whole collection was its texture, its tonality and the absence of any kind of dot or something similar that could make us think of recycled paper. We chose a paper where we could express elegance even if we want to pair it with floral touches to clarify the environmental defence because Rêverie 3 is based on that.", said Sergio Aja from Estudio Calcco
VINTAGE WSA PCR-FSC x Bulldog Studio
The paper features an authentic feel and an artisanal look, rightly names Vintage for its kraft brown shade.
"The Rêverie 3 Collection has very homogeneous materials. We were surprised by the white colour. Normally in recycled materials, the white colour is not as pure as ours. Technically, we were surprised we could print our label on this paper very easily.", said Carles Sala from Bulldog Studio
Eulalia Alcaraz, Business Director for Wine & Spirits and Beverage at UPM Raflatac comments: “Responsible sourcing is in our DNA here at UPM Raflatac. Thanks to our sustainable supply chain, we are able to offer designers FSC-certified labels that have varying percentages of PCR content, suiting any requirement. Rêverie 3 was already an extraordinary range due to the use of our sustainably sourced labels. However, what the designers have done with the materials, has truly taken it to the next level. It just shows what can be done when high-quality materials are combined with creativity. This collaboration has shown that FSC and PCR content materials can stand alongside other labels and deliver in terms of both quality and impact.”
