Together Design London creates bold, eye-catching packaging design reflecting the unforgettable joy of a sweet counter.

Fortnum & Mason's 18th-century department store is renowned for its sweets counter, designed to resemble a vast amphitheatre filled with ornamental sweet jars and aromas, where customers can choose their selection of sweets and are greeted with exceptional service.

Together Design London was commissioned to design a new pick-up gift range of sweets using the favourite flavours from Fortnum’s sweets counter. Inspired by Fortnum’s commitment: “We exist to create joy for all our customers, no matter where they are in the world”, the concept is that customers can acquire a tin of boiled sweets and instantly relive the unforgettable experience at the Piccadilly sweets counter.

Employing a diverse array of vintage sweet jar shapes on the packaging, they are filled with cheerful patterns all developed in-house at Together Design London and joyful colours, while adhering to timeless codes of the sweets category. From Lemon Sherbet and Sour Raspberry to Rhubarb & Custard, these traditional recipes are handcrafted in Wales by a fifth-generation family of sweet-makers, utilising copper pans. The new range incorporates a user-friendly design system that is easily implementable, offering Fortnum & Mason the opportunity to expand their sweet category with more flavours in the future.

Every inch of the confectionery counter is laden with sensory pleasures, with these jars you can now take a piece of unforgettable joy home with you.
