Tango Creative, a Mexico-based studio, delivers a playful packaging design for Picadas’s Aguas Frescas
Aguas Frescas, Picadas’ first RTD, arrives in the US from Mexico and other Latin American countries. Aguas Frescas, a crisp drink originating from fruits and water, collaborated with Redbud Brands to bring these flavours to Texas. Inspired by the lack of Mexican drinks on the market, the founder, Hugo Martinez, used his grandmother’s recipe to brew the first batch.
The brand worked in collaboration with artist David Gutierrez and design studio Tango Creative Studio to deliver a packaging system that would stand out in the RTD category. This collaboration resulted in an aluminium can with quirky and disruptive illustrations and a vibrant colour palette.
The design elements and illustrations draw from the deep Mexican roots while following the trend of the RTD category. Against the white background, the can is filled with quirky illustrations, robotic typography, and a vibrant colour scheme inspired by the drinks variants. The design studio strategically combined design elements, resulting in a blended visual identity that portrays the pack's origin while maintaining familiarity for the American target audience.
