Sustainable healthcare brand Cabinet Health is on a mission to eradicate single use plastic with the first refillable and compostable medicine system.

Sustainable healthcare brand Cabinet Health is on a mission to eradicate single use plastic with the first refillable and compostable medicine system.

With environmental concerns as the driving force for the concept, and consumers' needs at the forefront of the design, Cabinet Health created a range of sustainable pharmaceutical packaging that would reduce plastic waste. The pharmaceutical industry generates tons of plastic waste every year from single use polyethylene bottles to plastic blister packs. Cabinet Health’s new updated design sets out to change that for over-the-counter medicines and supplements by offering appeal, encouraging consumers to commit to a more sustainable system.

The concept consists of a reuse/refill approach comprised of reusable glass bottles with colour-coded caps, and the refill pouches made from 100% compostable materials. Square with curved edges, the “squircle” shaped bottles are compact and offer ease for stacking or carrying around.

A soft pastel colour palette adorns the bottle lids and blister packs to indicate variants while also offering a more appealing aesthetic than traditional packaging. This is further complemented by contemporary typography and a minimalist layout. The jar itself is left plain and finished with frosted glass to provide privacy and a more sophisticated look.
