Hamster and Hammer crafts biodegradable packaging for Primal Natural Sponge.

Primal Natural Sponge

Primal, an eco-conscious brand crafts a unique biodegradable product and tasked Hamster and Hammer to deliver a packaging design that matched the brand ethos using the product’s degradable material. The brand set out to have a packaging design that shares the same eco-material as the product because of its compostable and eco-friendly nature.

Hammer and Hamster

Primal sponges and the packaging is made using cellulose and sisal fiber which is a natural, plant-based, and environmental-friendly material. The manufacturing process involves ardent labour using traditional techniques and employing an authentic linocut to display the visual language on the pack delivering the overall identity in support of the brand value.

Hamster and Hammer deliver elements that match the brand ethos in material and visual identity. The logo preserves the core elements of the product with a typeface communicating naturalness that communicates self-sufficiency in design.

The overall visual identity displays a natural tone, with artistic linocut illustration of an oceanic scenery spread across packs and terrestrials. The packaging uses a dual chromatic palette sporting chalky hues that add to the natural elements of the packaging design that is in line with the brand ethos.
