Mother works in collaboration with the Last Prisoner Project to deliver a packaging design rallying a cause with tech-instilled functionality for Vibes

In a strategic collaboration with the Last Prisoner Project and design agency Mother, Vibes has recently introduced an innovative initiative titled "Release Papers." This ingenious concept transforms the ordinary act of rolling a joint into an opportunity for public enlightenment. Although there was a significant drop of 24% in federal cannabis arrests across the USA individuals continue to endure imprisonment—often for an extensive duration—due to non-violent cannabis infractions.

Each package of these distinctive rolling papers bears the name of one of four individuals currently incarcerated, accompanied by a QR code. This digital gateway empowers individuals to participate in impactful letter-writing campaigns, rallying behind the cause to secure the release of federal cannabis prisoners.

Mother's design expertise seamlessly integrates with the overarching aesthetic that defines Vibes' brand identity. The rolling paper sleeves now prominently feature the words "Release" and "Papers," thoughtfully rendered in an exaggerated and elongated typeface. Positioned on the reverse side of the packaging, persuasive copy urges for the liberation of the four mentioned prisoners, simultaneously serving as a poignant reminder that a significant number of individuals remain incarcerated for a plant that holds legal status in numerous states.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Release Papers initiative will be directed towards supporting the Last Prisoner Project—a testament to Vibes' commitment to fostering positive change within the packaging design industry while advocating for justice reform and fitting the title ‘Design with Purpose’, the Pentawards Festival 2023’s theme.
