The New York based design studio delivers a visual identity that evokes memories of good times for non-alcoholic drink brand on a mission, Figlia.
Figlia, meaning "daughter" in Italian, is the new non-alcoholic Aperitivo made for the moments you spend with your friends laughing with a drink in hand but without the dizzying aftereffects. The brand’s founder Lily Geiger aims to start a more honest and inclusive conversation around alcohol consumption and attitudes, an objective born from losing her father to alcoholism when she was 20. Feeling that non-drinkers are often judged or pushed to the sides of the social scene, Geiger set out to provide an alternative that’s just as good or, dare say, even more appealing than its alcoholic counterpart.
Designed by New York based RoAndCo, the brand and visual identity sharply focuses on the feelings associated with occasions more commonly associated with drinking.
A core source of inspiration comes from the most famous social hub on the nightlife scene, Studio 54. Vintage images of the nightclub feature throughout the branding, evoking that party vibe and good time feel. This influence is further echoed through grainy photography, a muted pink colour scheme and oversized sans serif typography that hark back to that same late 1970’s aesthetic.
A minimalist design layout however establishes the brand for a modern, contemporary audience and sets it apart from other alcoholic and non-alcoholic competitors. A modest white label on a clear glass bottle, exposing the rich colour of the product, simply featuring the oversized logo makes a bold impact in a modest yet striking way, resulting in a premium feel.
This duality of old and new as well as its minimal layout provides an inviting, sophisticated feel which stands unapologetically in any social occasion for anyone who would rather go zero proof for whatever reason.
Every bottle sold helps support Partnership to End Addiction and their mission to change how individuals and society address addiction. The brand also donates to non-profit environmental organizations through 1% for the Planet to help push toward a more sustainable world.
