The San Francisco based agency has developed the visual and brand identity for a science-led brand creating treatments that go beyond external skincare.

OneSkin is a brand developing topical supplements designed to extend youthful skin. Self-proclaimed ‘longevity company’, OneSkin is all about skin improvement on a molecular and scientific level rather than skincare, with a team made up of PhD-level aging experts and made with data-backed research.

With this ethos in mind, Slate created an identity that positions the brand as providers of scientific research and pioneering products to help human potential by going against skincare category norms. The packaging’s overall aesthetic feels futuristic with its monochrome black and white colour scheme and smooth edges, mimicking lab and computer equipment, however Slate also knew the design needed to feel rooted in systems that people can intuitively connect with.

The logo, and central facet of the visual identity, borrows from a series of recognisable symbols, from ancient Greek iconography to scientific cellular mitosis, all of which reflecting time and life and spanning from the historic to the futuristic. The outer shape hints at the brand's initial ‘O’ but warps at the edges to reflect the form of Cellular Mitosis. Hidden in the counter of the O is an hourglass shape with the sand inside defying gravity, just as the product helps you defy time itself.
