Meet the jury

In 2020 the jury will double in size from fifteen to thirty members. An expansion that demonstrates our commitment to recognising the best of the best in global packaging design. This eclectic mix of design directors from iconic brands, CEOs from the most renowned agencies and general design disruptors in packaging is now more diverse in gender, ethnicity, cultural milieu, origin and specialism than ever before.

A change like this can only be a good thing for you, the entrant. Now our increased jury has more time to get to grips with each and every entry they are judging and are able to make better judgements by sharing their own knowledge and experience to reach the right decision.

Feedback On All Entries

How does it work?

The score will be based on the jury’s verdict of the entry, with the four aspects of the judging criteria - the quality of design, brand expression, creativity & innovation and emotional connection. Each element will be scored out of five, allowing entrants to identify areas for improvement as well as areas of success. In round one, the maximum score is twenty, with the top five scoring entries being shortlisted for round two. Additional Excellence Points will then be awarded in round two, depending on the jury’s final verdict.

What is the benefit?

30 of the world’s most respected packaging design and innovation talents judging will give out the honest feedback of each work. The participants will get the clearest possible sense of what the judges thought of their packaging – what they loved and the areas where they felt improvements could be made. Actionable, tailored insights like these will be invaluable for packaging designers keen to take their work to the next level.

The average Excellence Scores, broken down by sub-category, will be released in October, at the same time as the bronze, silver, gold and platinum winners. This means Pentawards entrants will also be able to gauge how close they came to winning one of these top positions and how their work compares on a global stage.
