Olay uncovers their first-run Easy Open Lid, created to accommodate a much wider range of consumers, with the design open for others to download and modify.

With such a wide range of consumer needs often not being considered when it comes to packaging design and accessibility, Olay have taken an all-important steps towards accommodating those needs with their new Easy Open Lid.

The lid, created for their range of cream jars, offers Braille text, matte material and winged edges for better grip as well as high-contrast labelling throughout the entire packaging design. The design sets out to offer a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience for those with visual impairment, issues with dexterity and limb differences, available at no extra charge and to be integrated into Olay’s most popular products.

Taking accessibility to the next level, Olay’s Easy Open Lid also has an open-source design system, meaning that other beauty brands can simply download the CAD file from the Olay website, free of charge, and use it to 3D print the lid or modify the design themselves to accommodate other disabilities.
