Botito Eco-Guardian

BOTITO is a sustainable toy crafted from plastic packaging waste. It represents meta-packaging: packaging transformed into a new beginning. Plastic waste presents an enduring challenge. Progress demands a paradigm shift in how we consume, use, and dispose of packaging. This transformation requires environmental education starting at an early age. BOTITO emerges as an Eco-Guardian, teaching children that waste can initiate something new. Designed for recycling and composting, Botito seamlessly integrates into circular systems, leaving only inspiration to rethink waste.

Since 2010, the project has recovered 12.5 tons of plastic, diverting it from open-air landfills. We estimate that over 100 tons of plastic waste have been prevented through educational workshops and toy-making initiatives. • Repurposed plastic diverts waste from landfills, reducing pollution and supporting circular economy principles. • The durability of plastic ensures that toys last for generations. • Eco-friendly packaging appeals to environmentally conscious consumers. • Supporting the recycling industry encourages responsible material use and cultivates sustainability. The new retail packaging design embodies BOTITO's spirit by integrating circularity in form and function. Inspired by a garbage bin, it uses 100% recycled paper pulp, transforming discarded materials into a fully recyclable and compostable solution. The uncoated paper pulp finish showcases raw materiality, demonstrating that sustainability can be both conscious and playful.
