Seltzer brand Something & Nothing’s striking visual identity blends art and travel while embodying the modern contradiction of health and hedonism.

Fresh, new drinks brand Something & Nothing offer a range of low calorie, lightly carbonated seltzers. Brand founders Oliver Dixon and Rupert Pugsley set out to create a range of drinks that not only used natural ingredients but also offered refreshing and versatile flavours inspired by their own travel experiences, transporting consumers to far off places. This attitude is embodied throughout the visual identity, developed in collaboration with creative agency Studio AS-CC.

Taking inspiration from the world of art and travel, a fixed portrait ratio is used across all brand touchpoints depicting Hockney-Esque imagery that plays with textures, light and shade with striking colours accentuated by the minimalistic off-white base colour of the can. Bold typography offers an unapologetic tone of voice, particularly evident in their range of Spritz cans where the name overlaps the original can design. As a brand-driven to do things differently, they are continually discovering, evolving, and challenging, even in their visual identity.

Their brand logo takes the form of scales, inspired by their interest in the balance between health and hedonism. The sole use of natural ingredients means the seltzers appease those looking for a healthier option, while the playful visual identity evokes a sense of fun, avoiding the sometimes prescriptive health-food design codes.
