The Russian design company creates a new packaging suit that characterizes veganism in a bright and cheerful way.

Kaban Vegan is a new line of healthy ready meals made from natural, vegan ingredients set to hit stores across Russia. With current attitudes towards vegetarian and vegan cuisine leaning more towards a serious and cautious tone, ohmybrand set out to challenge these attitudes by creating a packaging design that’s inviting and light-hearted.

The title character is the “enlightened” boar (“kaban” means “boar” in Russian) shown hovering above the brand name, glowing with zen happiness. Throughout the packaging playful illustrations portray the boar in varying scenes, from inspecting the tracks on the ground like Sherlock Holmes, or kitted up in his cowboy-esque hat and badge or on the look-out for Karma law breakers, searching through a telescope with his third eye.

The text and choice of font on the packaging supports this playful narrative, informing consumers that the Kaban Vegan dishes have passed the test of the ‘karma police’ because “no animals were harmed in the process of creating the dish”.

Product variants are depicted using a block colour scheme, and the natural ingredients are reflected in the choice of earthy, soft tones.
