For the launch of their first batch of carefully selected beans, Ziu Coffee gets a complete logo, visual identity and easy packaging design suite.
My dear Studio was tasked with developing a modern brand and packaging design for new specialty coffee roasters Ziu. The Madrid-based brand imports carefully selected beans from small producers in Brazil for which they needed a visual identity that reflected the purity and quality.
By looking at the key features of raw coffee beans, particularly in the roasting and grinding process, My dear Studio focussed on the first sense it hits – the aroma. This became the driving force for the logo and hero of the design - A bespoke handwritten font in lettering that imitates the organic movement of aromas and heat. The symbol also refers to the functional hot symbol present in all roasting machines.
Light, organic tones are implemented throughout the packaging design, reflecting the pureness of the coffee and creating a premium feel. Variants are indicated by recyclable, coloured stickers stuck to the front of each pack. This design, made from recyclable craft envelopes, was designed in such a way for budget friendly means, however in the future, as the brand develops, coloured paper packages featuring a brighter palette will take the lead in the brand’s packaging.
