Artisanal mezcal brand Madre Mezcal launch their new ready-to-drink canned cocktails ‘Desert Water’ complete with a modern visual identity by long-time collaborators LAND.

Appealing to both new mescal drinkers, serving as an uncomplicated introduction to the spirit, and connoisseurs alike, Madre Mescal’s ‘Desert Water’ is a new contender in the ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktail category. Made to be enjoyed in any scenario and available in four flavours, the cocktails consist of Madre Espadin mezcal, sparkling water, real fruit, plants, and herbs with no artificial flavours or colours, and boast ingredients known for having functional properties like anti-inflammatory herbs, and anti-fungal cacti.

RTD canned cocktails are one of the fastest growing categories in the drinks sector, however, consumers are also now demanding healthier alternatives of the beverage without sacrificing the alcohol flavours and content (ABV) value. This is where Madre Mezcal comes to the fore with their use of entirely natural ingredients. This unique edge in the RTD cocktail category is what drives LAND’s visual identity and packaging design.

The Austin-based design firm implements a stripped back approach focusing around the purity of the drink. The central focus lands on the image of a cloaked woman, Mother Earth, holding a sickle which nods to the brand’s name and ethos by paying homage to the land and its bounty. The soft colour palette consisting of neutral pastels forms a direct connection with the natural ingredients, while also providing an appealing and contemporary aesthetic.
