Baklazanas Design Studio creates a design concept for PZ DC Bad Day Drink, a drink crafted to celebrate failure
PZ DC, a non-alcoholic drink, is a design concept created to celebrate and honour bad days, breaking away from the norm of only celebrating success. The name, PZ DC, is derived from the Russian word that translates to ‘an extremely bad situation’. Design Studio, Baklazanas delivers a gloomy, yet bold packaging design to exhibit a correlation between dismay and hopefulness.
A monochrome palette depicts a visual language that communicates the five degrees of sorrow, which are melancholy, sadness, misery, gloom, and despair, also making it the five variants of the non-alcoholic drink.
The visual concept and hues replicate the product and its black-only ingredients, such as black tea, blackberry, coffee, black cumin, licorice, black sesame, black pepper, black wild rice, charcoal, and black resin. The design studio chooses a tagline, ‘drain the bitter cup’, that reflects the product in concept, taste, and design.
