In the Algarve region of southern Portugal, these vineyards produce a young, vibrant wine, infused with the freshness of the sea and shaped by the sun-drenched coastal winds. Grown in sandy, mineral-rich soils and cooled by the Atlantic breeze, the grapes express a lively character and a strong sense of place.

To convey this unique identity, a visual narrative and storytelling approach were developed to reflect the richness of the wine’s origins.

Nearby, the coastline forms a true wildlife sanctuary, home to salt marshes, wetlands, dunes, and tidal channels—ecosystems that provide ideal habitats for a rich variety of birds, fish, mollusks, and crustaceans. These fragile yet essential environments sustain biodiversity and contribute to the natural rhythm of life along the Algarve’s coast.

Among the most iconic inhabitants of this ecosystem is the fiddler crab (Uca tangeri), often spotted at low tide. Known for its distinctive movement—waving an oversized claw like a tiny violinist—this ritual is used both to court females and assert dominance in territorial battles. The claw serves as a symbol of finesse, strength, and resilience.

This extraordinary species became the inspiration and namesake for the wine: UCA Violinista (“Uca Violinist”). Featuring a bold visual identity drawn from the crab’s unique character, the design not only celebrates the wine’s deep connection to its territory but also aims to spark curiosity and raise awareness among the thousands of tourists who visit the Algarve each year—inviting them to look closer, drink thoughtfully, and care more deeply for the ecosystem that makes it all possible.
