Since 2007, Pentawards has been recognising global excellence in packaging design through its annual competition. In just 14 years, the competition has received in excess of 20,000 entries across its 6 main categories.

This year's competition had over 2,000 entries from 60 countries across 5 continents, which were judged by our fantastic international line-up of judges . Results from the first round of judging were released last week, with the second and final round of judging just around the corner.

Ahead of the full reveal, we take a sneak peek at the companies and universities with the highest number of shortlisted entries. Full details on this year's shortlisted entries will be revealed on Friday 3 July.


Highest number of shortlisted entries by company



Backbone Branding, the 2019 Pentawards Design Agency of the year, continues to hold strong alongside three other companies with 5 shortlisted entries: Xiaomi, NX Creative, Design Bridge and Depot Branding.

Out of the nine companies with 4 shortlisted entries, first-timers Caparo Design Crew entered four projects and have four projects shortlisted. Are they ones to watch?

The British Higher School of Art & Design, who has ten shortlisted entries for 2020, was recently featured top of our Top 10 Student League Table , featuring the universities and colleges that have accumulated the most Pentawards points between 2007-2019.
